This month at The Armoury agency, we put on our baking hats and got creating some tasty treats to celebrate #Nationalcakeday on Tuesday 26th November 2019, in aid of a great local charity MS society Norwich and District group.
The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) society Norwich and District group is based locally and ran by 3 amazing volunteers who work hard to support those affected by the neurological condition. Linda Buck, who works as a group co-ordinator for the charity kindly joined us with her husband to sample first-hand our delicious deserts at our studios, commenting on the quality of the cakes (very yummy).
And there were no soggy bottoms either, as Team Armoury produced a fantastic variety of scrumptious delights in a bid to be crowned the legendary Armoury Baker 2019. Traditional favourites, such as Lemon Drizzle and carrot cake, were joined by sponges of all shapes and sizes and even a pink “pud” by animator Alwin Ediagbonya, inspired by our work for children's book Pouncing Pickles (Pickle approved!).
The star of the show, however, was creative director Lee Turner, who’s chocolate and strawberry sponge cake “The Full creamy jacket” received this year’s Star Baker. On winning the award, Lee comments: ‘The level of quality and effort from the rest of the team was extremely high this year so it was important to raise my game. It was a really close call towards the end and there was only a small slice in it between the ‘Full Creamy Jacket” and Chloe’s amazing ‘Lemon Drizzle Cake’... so a big well done to Chloe and all of those who took part. Also a special thank you to Kate, who supported me throughout the process and ensured, crucially, that water was actually added to the mix in the end, and of course a big shout to my good friend Betty.’
Other awards included “Baking superstar”, which was won by bakers Saffi and Jelly who also made some delicious cakes for our bake sale.
With an incredible final total of £150.00 raised, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to support our Armoury Bake-off and a big well done to all our Armoury bakers!
